10 Hot Comics... Who'll Rock Your Socks

Michael Somerville was a freshman at the University of Notre Dame when he first tried stand up. People laughed, and he was hooked. After graduating, he moved to New York City and got a job at an advertising agency. By his own admission, it did not go well. "The company expected me to be there at 9am, regardless of how late I was out the night before, and my neck was getting irritated from shaving every day. I quickly announced my retirement and entered the world of entertainment."

What's the worst aspect stand-up? When people don't laugh. Writing can be frustrating, when you're trying to come up with something from nothing.

Who or what makes you laugh? Real things-- everyday life-- truth."

What do you love about performing? "I love to laugh and make people laugh. There is a feeling about laughing with a room of people. There's a connection, an intimacy, a bond. It's a wild sensation, a rush like no other."
